Fashion is fun! Learn to sew, created a beautiful summer dress and design gorgeous jewelry while having the time of your life! Students also learn about the wonderful world of fashion, design, illustration and modeling. There will be group projects in which students will have design challenges with time constraints. Students will partake in a fashion photo shoot and produce a fashion show for their final project. (Parents and relatives are strongly encouraged to attend the fashion show.)
Students should bring their own sewing machine if they have one. Basic supplies will be available for students use (sewing machines,, thread, scissors, fabric, trim, mannequins, and much more)
Please bring a snack and water bottle.

Course Description
Join the latest fashion trend and create new garments from thrifted clothing. See a pair of overalls, make them into a skirt or handbag. See a man’s shirt, make it into a dress. Bring your own sewing machine or hand sew your creations.

Develop your own street wear fashion brand. In this course students use their creativity by constructing apparel garments from thrifted items using classic apparel techniques. Students will learn sustainability principles through these activities and be part of the challenges of climate change.
Industrial professional sewing machines and sergers will be used for this class. This class will be held in the fashion design studio on the 9th floor of the Taubman Building.
